Ellen Kappel, president of Geo Prose, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in geology from Cornell University (1980) and a PhD in marine geology and geophysics from the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University (1985). Prior to establishing Geo Prose, she was a program manager with the Ocean Drilling Program for 12 years at Joint Oceanographic Institutions where she interacted with senior scientists on a regular basis, wrote program plans and budgets, and developed newsletters and promotional and educational materials. In addition to running Geo Prose, Dr. Kappel is editor, Oceanography magazine.Johanna Adams, graphic designer, has a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in fine arts and mathematics from the State University of New York at Geneseo (1989). After graduating, Johanna worked with the Ocean Drilling Program for 10 years at Joint Oceanographic Institutions. While with JOI, she was responsible for the design and production of many ODP-related publications and web sites. From 1999 to 2001, she worked as a graphic designer for Xceed, a dot-com firm in Sausalito, CA.
